I'm engineering student attending Cal Poly Pomona and Mt. Sac. I'm taking this course to help me become a better researcher and to learn of resources that are available for that purpose. I've notice that I often settle for a google or Wikipedia post as opposed to digging in depth especially if I'm rushing. I would like to get back to proper citations and sound information sources. I like using the web for research and would like to be better at filtering out rubbish and retaining meaningful information.
Information literacy is a new concept to me. As I stated above, I'm a googler and will readily accept info from Wikipedia. The TED video was very informative and explains why my mom and I would get different search results when we searched the same keyword. From our assigned text reading, I agree that we have to be able to properly handle all the information that we encounter when search the WWW. I look forward to the progression of my blog.
